Police stated they were alerted by a man who discovered a car in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Around fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.

Officers state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.

The fluid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.

Officers then located numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Officials state initial examinations indicate the substance was probably human blood.

"There is still no clue as to its source; officials are presently not informed of any physical harm in association with the incident," they stated.

City officials said they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the residents for details.

A high-ranking political figure said the attack left him speechless and had to be resolved quickly.

"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on online, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
